Glittery sequins illuminate the night sky,
A wisp of surrealism on an abandoned plain.
Silence grips the empty shelf of land,
While it mourns the loss of its lover to the fire.
Stewardship, love of the earth,
Overshadowed by war and poverty and hate.
Beauty is indigent, a decree to all
That life as we know it is gone.
