[Four has always been the less independent twin of the two of them, and it shows by his general dislike for leaving the house on his own. He knows that he can’t stay inside all the time however, since he’s sure that he’s come pretty close to examining most of the household during his short time here. So he must prepare himself to venture outside

I think to be brave means to do everything within one's power to overcome that which you fear. You can become brave a number of ways -- but what is most important is to have a reason for wanting to be brave.

What if you're too small to be brave?

Being brave means being able to do the things that aren't easy. Having something to lose and risking it anyway for a worthy cause.
And I don't think there's such a thing as being braver than you are. You're already being braver than you were just by thinking of expanding your horizons, you know?

That's bravery?
[Four realizes that he's even less brave than he thought!]
[I don't feel very brave.
I just want to go outside on my own.

Fear is a good thing, you know. It keeps you from doing things that could get you hurt or killed. Part of bravery is knowing when it's worth the risk and when it isn't.
[....Okay, he just has to chuckle a bit at that, so have a brief pause in the text.]
Well, why is it that you're afraid to go outside alone? What makes it different from going out from others?

There are many scary things outside!
I could be crushed, or stepped on, or a cat can get me.
I know others my size who aren't afraid though, and I wish that I wasn't afraid either.

[Johan probably doesn't mean that in the way his words might suggest, if the big grin on his face is any indication, but feel free to take that totally opposite regardless.]

[If Four is going to get an answer like that, he wants to know everything behind it.]

[Yeah, it's friendship speech time.]
Everybody's capable of it, they just have different ways of doing it. But it's all the same thing. Being brave is all about surpassing your limits, so there's no "less" or "more" about it!

So he's not so sure.]
If everyone is capable of being brave than where do the heroes come from?
Aren't they the ones that are braver than everyone else?

Being brave isn't about not being scared. It's about not letting the fear stop you. That's how you get to be braver than you think you are.

Now Matt is going to know how much of a scaredy-cat Four is too.]
How can we find out how brave we actually are?
Without getting into danger of course.
I don't like pain.

How come you're asking?

I just want to do stuff on my own without being afraid.
Whenever I go outside, it's with Tobias or Lenalee.
[Guess who's feeling a little ashamed of himself now?]

You just gotta get real strong and beat everybody up!

I'm not very strong though.
[But who cares about that stuff! Question time!]
Why is your hair pink?
How tall are you?
You are small for a human, are you a child?
What's your name?

Why do you ask so many questions?
I dunno how tall I am, how tall are you?
[ What was the next question? Yachiru actually stops talking for a moment and goes back to look at the questions. And then: ]
I'm not a human, silly, I'm a shinigami!!
