[Four has always been the less independent twin of the two of them, and it shows by his general dislike for leaving the house on his own. He knows that he can’t stay inside all the time however, since he’s sure that he’s come pretty close to examining most of the household during his short time here. So he must prepare himself to venture outside

Being brave means being able to do the things that aren't easy. Having something to lose and risking it anyway for a worthy cause.
And I don't think there's such a thing as being braver than you are. You're already being braver than you were just by thinking of expanding your horizons, you know?

That's bravery?
[Four realizes that he's even less brave than he thought!]
[I don't feel very brave.
I just want to go outside on my own.

Fear is a good thing, you know. It keeps you from doing things that could get you hurt or killed. Part of bravery is knowing when it's worth the risk and when it isn't.
[....Okay, he just has to chuckle a bit at that, so have a brief pause in the text.]
Well, why is it that you're afraid to go outside alone? What makes it different from going out from others?

There are many scary things outside!
I could be crushed, or stepped on, or a cat can get me.
I know others my size who aren't afraid though, and I wish that I wasn't afraid either.

...Uh. Just how...small are you...?
But uh. You could try to avoid places that are crowded when you're alone. Or find some way to make yourself more noticeable? So things won't step on you.

Could keep some catnip on hand to distract cats? Or a ball of yarn or something...
[He's never had a cat, okay. General suggestions!]

Those sound like good suggestions, I will take them into account. I just want to examine this world a little closer, since it is a lot different than my world.

[Not even a foot tall...it's an uncomfortable realization when he understands that...whatever he's talking to isn't human. Sorry, Four, but in the past couple of weeks he's been randomly attacked by an android, and remotely controlled stuffed animals in powered exosuits have been used to hold his city hostage. Kotetsu can tell that none of these things were intelligent enough to actually carry on a conversation but it's rather...awkward.]
I hope you won't be offended if I asked what you were, exactly. Was under the impression I was talking to another person, and all...
[He knows his suspicion is probably unfounded based just on the conversation, but the experience he's had recently predisposes him a bit towards wariness.]

I'm 4. I'm one of the 9 creations.
I'm not a person.
See?
