My day has not gone well.

My celebration of the restored Post by Mail/GPG functionality may have been a bit... premature. Hopefully the duplicate-post spree was a one-time occurrence, because I hate dealing with this web form directly...

At the time I prepared this post on the joy of
building absurdly long road trips, my itinerary was "Kachemak City, AK to
Moscow, Russia", weighing in at a modest 10090 mile "drive".

Fortunately, my quest for the longest path needn't end there.

How about "Unalaska, AK to Vardo, Norway"? Anyone interested?

Right, so the new drive for velius is a SATA-2 device, and the
controller is a VT8237, a SATA-1 controller. Turns out this controller does
not play well at auto-negotiating the rate on the line. The good news is,
there is an undocumented jumper setting for the drive that will ( Read more... )

I have excellent news: in the very near future, my disk space problems
will be solved for the time being.

I have more excellent news: sometime in the very near future, I'll be
doing an integrity check of all of my backup DVDs. And really hoping that
all the discs pass.
