Comcast. True story.
I realized that I haven't actually watched television since early summer; it's been mostly Netflix and iTunes. So when my latest 6-month "deal" ended, and my bill went up $30 on top of the arm and leg I've been paying for something I don't use, I decided to "cut the cord." Mostly.

Sorry it's been so long. I've been super super busy at work, mostly. I'm doing another validation, in case I didn't mention that. solo hostess
I'm having a party on Saturday. My 4th (FOURTH!) annual Pumpkin Party. Last week I was feeling casual about the planning. This week I'm freaking out. Partly because at least 20 people are coming, so far. I think that's almost twice last year's turnout. trying not to make a hardwood joke.
We finished the floors. They're absolutely gorgeous, if I do say so myself. It's like I have a whole new house, a completely different look and atmosphere from the dumb beige carpet. So classy and elegant, just like I wanted.
Doing 620 square feet over a long weekend with only two people was a bit much, I think; just one extra person (ahem Jack) ( Read more... ) -

Hello, I'm a Mac.
I love these pictures. Circa 1985, I'm about two. I've got my diaper and pacifier, my little square mouse for a little square box with a screen. It's one of the first Macintoshes, which debuted a month after I was born. This one had a program called KidsTime that had puzzles (my favorite was connect-the-dots).

I love my awesome, wonderful friends. Marci lent me her huge truck for the weekend. Ken, Andy, Jenell, & Rob came over on a Saturday morning to lift heavy objects into and out of said truck, and large pieces of furniture up the stairs. Physical labor on a Saturday morning! So the conference was okay. It wasn't as fun or relaxing as I had hoped it would be, but at least I made some good contacts and talked shop with people from other labs. learning curve?
My friend Ashley mentioned that she's going to sew her kids' Halloween costumes for the first time (Bam-Bam for the 4-year-old and Pebbles for the 6-month-old) but has no idea how. I offered to help her because I love sewing and know a thing or two, and besides I already had a pattern for a baby dress-type-thing that would work for Pebbles. ( Read more... ) -
