Since I’ve been on such a reading kick, and I’ve enjoyed all of the books (and highly recommend all but one), I figured I’d share. I’ll put the details behind a cut, and the details are mostly aimed at folks in the book group I’m in, but anyone interested in a new book to read may find something.

Metalwork!
At the Powderhorn art fair, there was an info group for the Chicago Avenue Fire Arts Center.
I'm intrigued. I guess now as I think about it, they won't necessarily have metal tooling equipment, but even as a place to take a class on welding and on black smithing would be a heck of a lot of fun.

So yesterday was spent demolishing the soffits in the kitchen as well as pulling down two of the walls. This included the wall with all of the lovely brick vineer.
Today so far I've gotten about 80% of the ceiling down -- a lovely mix of celulose and fiberglass insulation above it. Yippee.

So much for posting daily on progress...none the less, here is what I've been up to:
Last week two of the uppers got hung in the basement -- yay more storage. tenandtonic gave a hand moving a pair of lower cabinets and a bunch of burnable wood to stately NotBatManor (thanks!). The clutter in the back yard is getting down to reasonable. Friday was hot, so not a ( Read more... ) -
Been happy for the cool weather
Well, I've never posted much, but I pretty doggedly don't post about work. So current circumstances mean I can post more. To that point, I won't be discussing the job hunt side of things.
So instead I'll periodically put up some of the house progress.
Things that were left to do:
