Well, I've never posted much, but I pretty doggedly don't post about work. So current circumstances mean I can post more. To that point, I won't be discussing the job hunt side of things.
So instead I'll periodically put up some of the house progress.
Things that were left to do:
* Miscellaneous trim work
* Bathroom plumbing
* Make the basement usable
* Make the garage usable
* Build steps for the deck
* Redo the old kitchen and dining room into a larger dining room and pantry (and laundry chute!)
* Clean all the junk from the first phase of remodelling out of the back yard
So the first week I got started on cleaning up around the house. I decluttered the upstairs bath (shower isn't quite done, but we're close). I significantly cut down the clutter in the basement. I got the "work bench" from the basement set up in the back corner of the garage meaning I had to more or less swap a lot of stuff in the garage around (and throw a bunch of stuff out).
Oh, I also leveled the area next to the deck to be ready to lay gravel and then the steps -- I petered out before I got the steps actually built.
This week we got the dumpster. Monday was mostly spent getting the old kitchen cleaned out (which wasn't actually finished until today), and getting an area in the basement where we could keep tools and supplied -- what we had been using the old kitchen for. Tuesday was hauling stuff from the back yard to the dumpster. A lot of stuff. The bad news is that I maybe only hit half of what needs to go. Still a good start. Today I started demo on the old kitchen and dining room. Most of the trim is down (I think just baseboards in the dining room are left -- oh, and the window trim in the kitchen). All of the cabinets next to the fridge are sitting in the dining room -- waiting for new homes. The uppers over the stove and counter into the dining room are down and into the dumpster.
Of course clearing out the two rooms means that all of the nicely decluttered areas of the house are now disaster areas, but at least there was space for the stuff to go.
Whee!
