My lymph nodes are so swollen that it hurts to lift my chin or move my neck. If it's not one thing, it's another lately. I'm fairly sure this is just another sinus cold, so I'm not all that worried, but I hate losing my sense of smell. Not because of smell itself, but because of how it screws with my sense of taste. I lose all will to eat once I

I don`t understand how people can tan, sitting out in the sun and baking their flesh, larger pores when they`re older, melanoma possibilities...all for what? A slightly darker skin tone? Pffft, no thanks.
I managed to score beach time yesterday myself...went for a walk on the boardwalk with no bathing suit, thought it'd be cloudy and cold..it wasn't. Ended up running into the waves in my jeans and tank top, I was thoroughly soaked and happy :D
Hope you have a good time at the beach this weekend!!

Ahhh, I want to go run into the water with my clothes on, now. XD Can't with the family, though. They're total buzzkills.

She kind of went quiet for a minute as we walked the shoreline, then she asked for my glasses and sandles(which I was carrying) than gave me a total of five minutes to run in and then come back.
*laughs* I went out so far, found a hole in the sand, tripped and fell! XD I was soaked and absolutely loved it.
'Course mom made me sit on jackets on the way home, lol, but it was worth it. XD
Maybe you could wait till the family isn't looking and say some kid pushed you in? XD

...I could. But I'd still get yelled at. T_T

Yeah. We'll settle on one I haven't used in a while (and beforehand only in a pairing!). XD

Character: Huntress

I like Huntress. She's kind of like a female Batman, and she embodies my idea that sometimes, you have the right to take a life. She's intense and driven and has no superpowers, but can hold her own against superpowered characters despite that lack.
2) Is he/she important to the general plot?
For one episode, yes. Other than that, not really.
3) Can you relate to this character at all? Do they grip you emotionally?I can really relate to the character. I agreed with her that she had the right to kill the man who murdered her family. In the show, we see that he had done nothing 'good' in his life and caused misery to many other people. Sure, it might be 'beneficial' to keep him alive, but I don't think the others had the right to stand in her way. It was her choice to kill that man, and their protection of him pissed me off. I guess I am moved by the character because I so strongly understand where she's ( ... )

I'm generally cool with Sokka. I don't hate him, but I don't really like him on his own. I think he's interesting mainly because of how he interacts with the cast and his world. He's basically a normal guy stuck in a crazy, spiritual, magical world, and so he's constantly out of his element. I like his sense of responsibility (he does have one!) and how clever he can be at working out plans. I like that he's an inventor and the others turn to him for 'ideas', and I feel sorry for him whenever he's poked fun at because of his more serious, focused mindset towards the war plans.
2) Is he/she important to the general plot?
Very. He's a main team member, and serves as direction for the laidback, whimsical Aang and his passionate, act first-think later sister. He's the main tactical head of the group.
3) Can you relate to this character at all? Do they grip you emotionally?I can't relate to Sokka all that much, ( ... )

I adore Iroh. He is my perfect ideal of a paternal figure. I mean, he has his flaws when it comes to enabling, but he's gently supportive, forgiving, and loving even after you've made mistake after mistake. He loves tea, has the most amazingly kooky sense of humor, and can spout fire from his mouth. And can kick many levels of ass. And will back you up when you need help. God, I love that man.
2) Is he/she important to the general plot?
Yes. He's the guide to Zuko, the second main 'protaganist' of the series. Where Ozai is the 'yin', the negative influence to Zuko, Iroh is the 'yang'. They both represent the Fire Nation future ideology that Zuko must choose between, in the persistent theme of duality that runs through the show.
3) Can you relate to this character at all? Do they grip you emotionally?Oh, yes. Iroh's concern and love for his nephew, even when he is imprisoned due to Zuko's choice at the end ( ... )

I have no opinion of this character, really. I mean, it's tragic and it shows how much of an inconcievable bastard Bishop really is, but I don't care too much about the guy himself.
2) Is he/she important to the general plot?
No. Not at all. He's not even that important to the plot of the episode, to tell you the truth. Poor guy shows up just to be stuck into the monster of the week role.
3) Can you relate to this character at all? Do they grip you emotionally?
Since I've never been transformed into a hideous beast by someone I trusted...no. I can't relate at all. And their suffering is too bizarre and short-lived to grip me emotionally.
4) How much do you like the fandom that this character comes from?
Loved the TMNT cartoon series for all four seasons that it remained good.
5) Do you ship this character with any other character? Or, are you particularly intrigued by their relationship with any other ( ... )

I like Roy Mustang a lot, and I suspect some of it comes from the fire manipulation. I've long had a fondness for characters who can control fire. He's also a great leader, protective towards his subordinates, and angsty without being a woobie. And when Ed gets uppity, he shows him his place. XD
2) Is he/she important to the general plot?
Very much so, I would think. The manga is really good at making the extensive amount of characters give importance to the plot, and Roy's plans for world domination for its own good are pretty crucial to the stoyline.
3) Can you relate to this character at all? Do they grip you emotionally?I'm not sure if relate is the right word, but I sympathize with the character a lot, and his emotions are so well-portrayed that I have no trouble understanding how the character feels. I am most 'moved' in the way he behaves towards his subordinates, and how he literally would do ( ... )

Riza is descended from the almighty well of stoicism and loyalty from which all stoic, awesome, sharpshooting second in command types come from. She is pure and unadulterated love, and she's good with puppies. (Potty training with guns. So hardcore!)
2) Is he/she important to the general plot?
She's an important supporting character. Her presence is fairly crucial for Roy: she gave him the secret of his alchemy, she supports him and maintains his morality, and together they angst about the Ishbalan war in which they slaughtered an innocent culture.
3) Can you relate to this character at all? Do they grip you emotionally?
I can't relate to her, but she does grip me emotionally when she is thrown into a state of fear and anxiety over what new fatal situation Roy has gotten himself into this time.
4) How much do you like the fandom that this character comes from?
Like it, love it, want more of it.

Besides the time factor, there's also, you know, risk of skin cancer and death.
I enjoy getting tan in the summer but me getting tan is usually a by-product of me being out and about in the sun, not a conscious effort. Plus I'm blessed with skin that tans well and then protects me from sunburns.
For the meme.... Tsunade.

1) What is your opinion of this character? If you like, explain why you like him/her. Likewise if you dislike the character.
I pretty much adore Tsunade. In a manga like Naruto, I think I doubly love the female characters that show their faces and get page time. I tend to like older, more mature characters in general, and Tsunade definitely qualifies. She's weatherworn and cynical and just keeps on going despite the pain in her life. I like how she stands her ground, and how powerful a character she is. (In battle, too. I mean, finger flick of death!) I love how she's the type to be introspective and brooding. I love how much of a flawed character she is as well, and so human- but I think some of my enjoyment of that is dulled by Kishimoto's tendency to display humanity's weaknesses with his female cast.

I ship Tsunade/Jiraiya and Tsunade/Shizune. Am very glad that Shizune is not dead and can therefore go on to have a wonderful relationship with Tsunade, who is most likely not dying. Most writers don't make comatose characters die. Probably seems redundant to them. Tsunade/Jiraiya are great because they were just...so close. Just on the borderline of a relationship, always missing their chance, and finding it too late. There was so much UST and longing and nostalgia it was gorgeous. I like Tsunade/Shizune because they're great partners, Shizune understands Tsunade so much, and also, well...femmeslash love. That is all.
6) Is there anything about the character you would change?
Yes. I would change her being comatose. Instead of being comatose, she would be off fighting that usurper Danzo. Also, she would have fought Pain to avenge Jiraiya's death, and won.
7) If you ( ... )

Agreed.
No one is important to the plot but Naruto and Sasuke and/or the Uchiha. And, since Tsunade is female, her story is secondary or tertiary.
Sadly, this is true. I don't think she's unimportant - she had too much screentime for that - but she's certainly not as important as either Naruto or Sasuke.
I am liking the manga less and less, but the fandom churns out some pretty damn awesome stuff.
I'm in the same boat.
