Where have all the good text editors gone? (SUSE excursion)
Distro shock must be setting in.
The only halfway decent GUI text editor I'm seeing in the SUSE repos is the default, Gedit. Gedit has its uses, but I'm used to the flexibility and features of medit, or Scite, or a half-dozen other programmer's/text editors. Cloning Windows????
I have a Windows XP installation CD, licensed and all that. I installed and registered it on a desktop that has since been put to pasture. Recently, I did a fresh installation onto a completely different computer. Didn't have a problem with the product key, online activation, or Windows Genuine Advantage. Adventures in Debian, continued
Oh man, a million questions! I'm stuck on Debian stable (etch), and all the packages' changelogs are from 2006, and several versions behind current (improved) releases. Is there any way to use stable and testing together? Or upgrade to testing entirely? Should I add Ubuntu repositories? But I don't want Ubuntu! This is supposed to be my ( Read more... ) -
Debian server, at last
Yay, I have installed my first pure Debian server! I'm ridiculously excited by this, having never dealt with original Debian or a strictly server-type setup. RAM
Went to pull some RAM out of a desktop in my workroom, and almost tripped over the tub that was sitting on the floor. Which has been sitting on the floor for about 8 months. That I can't even name the contents thereof, having little memory of ever packing it. Must start storing loose hard drives in some dry corner, because stacking them randomly ( Read more... ) -
Old computers: the rescue operation
I'm now tripping over old, questionable-state computers. Thanks to other people's careless trash habits of just putting boxes of old computers and parts on the curb for the garbage collector, I've accumulated over 5 desktop towers, 2 monitors, and a whopping 8+ laptops.
