I've been fiddling with this new install for so much time...I thought it was almost a month ago that I got it installed to dexter, but all evidence (modify/creation dates on home folders, main forum's join date) points to only two weeks ago! Exactly two weeks ago today...

The only halfway decent GUI text editor I'm seeing in the SUSE repos is the default, Gedit. Gedit has its uses, but I'm used to the flexibility and features of medit, or Scite, or a half-dozen other programmer's/text editors. Good thing I left that Slax installation on the laptop. I just hijacked the memory from a battered, failing Presario for my Omnibook, and finally got Slax to boot. It even ran the KDE desktop (though the resolution needs tweaking)! 32MB to 160MB is a huge difference in performance...Slax booted up so fast and smooth. Once I get the power supply ( Read more... )
