The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the one, but the many begins with one. Been running behind at work all week. Can't seem to shove my head into the proper gear.

Also, it's just really, really tacky to say something like "having a job sucks" when you know there are folks around you who are looking for work.

Having a job most emphatically does not suck; having to work does.

Finally got the BN gift certificate. We'd have had it last week, except that I realized this weekend that I'd left out the l in hotmail.com. All fixed now, though :)

The weather here continues to be freakishly pleasant. It's August; the weathermen should be talking about heat index values at or above 100 degrees and disgusting air quality. My former manager, now bumped up to director, sent all her people at $50 "super certificate" from giftcertificates.com, which allowed me to purchase a $50 gift card from any of their stores.

I didn't really browse the list, just searched for the store I wanted: Barnes & Noble's. Fresh meat reading material, yay!

As much as I prefer to read hard copy, I find myself wishing I had a PDA of some sort for reading. Nobody looks twice if you're looking at something on a PDA as you walk or stand in the elevator, but everyone seems to notice if you read an actual book. It's really starting to bother me, and it's starting to get more and more difficult not to snap ( Read more... )
