Have been rather quiet on LJ recently, mainly due to the horrid heat which has sucked all ability to think from me. Thankfully after yesterday thunder and lightening it has cooled down and it now a pleasant summer temperature. Might even write up back-dated entries for the two previous weekends before I forget what we did.

It's too darned hot! It did look as if it was going to be colder this morning, but it hasn't taken too long to heat up at all. I don't do hot weather particularly well.

Last week I rec'd a changing mat I had bid on (£5 inc postage which was a pain as the seller only lived 5 miles away but had already posted when I suggested I'd collect). Am at the computer in the study (aka box room) with the Suday service on in the background because I can't be bothered retuning the radio. have just demolished a bowl of bran flakes as, although we are going out for brunch, I doubt I could make it through to 10 without being both hungry and irritable. Nick is still asleep.

I have nothing to report, so I fear I may ramble.

Have been eating well (roasted a chicken on Monday hence chicken salad sandwiches all week for lunch, salmon on Tuesday and last night managed to get around to the Shepherd's Pie I made on Sunday. Dragged a more than willing Spouse and the Boy Laurence to the ballet last night, namely New Adventure's Edward Scissorhands, and very good it was too. I particularly liked the suburban scences (especially the driving scene).

Lunch today was spent very pleasurably by myself.

I went to the cafe at the Nuffield Theatre on campus. It was quiet, but not so quiet that you felt as if the staff were watching you and only you. The music was laid back even if it did veer dangerously close to modern jazz from time to time and the food was tasty. I had a grilled goats cheese ( Read more... )

I also noticed, upon entering the kitchen this morning, three packets of suet sitting on the counter top. Three full packets of suet. three packets of suet that should ahve been int he haggis I spent all last night making.

Am sitting at dining room table using laptop (yeh for wireless!). Nick's just woken up and is lying on the sofa (he took refuge there last night in order to get some sleep away from my cold-magnified snores) and I've just interrupted this to make him a cup of tea.
