  • Saw King Kong on Thursday. Fun but overly long (could have easily lost a good reel's worth or so without any problem.
  • Saw A Cock and Bull Story on Friday and througouhly enjoyed it. I ahven't read Tristram Shandy but now feel rather guilted into doing so. I would heartily ( Read more... )

There's a dilbert cartoon which goes something like this:

Dilbert: (polishing the name tag on his cubicle) You can tell how much someone likes their job by the cleanliness of their work area.
Alice: Give me the duster now - it's my turn to fantasize I'm a maid.

...which I think just about sums it up. I quite like tidying, but just because it can be a quick fix of accomplishment in a day filled with frustration, ineffectiveness, and the general crushing of my dreams.

My desk is usually very, very tidy.

OOh scary. Now, my mum was legendary in her disarray before she got married.I'm not just talking when she was six years old..

I'm tidier than I used to be, but I'll never be enthusiastic about being tidy and I find housework a drudge. This may well have to do with the fact that I live by myself and there is nobody to appreciate it if it gets really nice. I will never understand people who like housework, never ever...

You know, that explains why my desk at work is always spotless and my house is a tip.

Yes, "Cock & Bull Story" was most enjoyable - Rob Brydon was very, very funny. But I couldn't believe how many people among the cinema audience went "Eugghhhkk" out loud when the baby's head was being born!

Thank you for your kind note on my community entry. I just had to sneak over and investigate your journal, and I see you work at So'ton uni! I did my BA there (graduated '92) so talk of the Nuffield Theatre really takes me down memory lane. Well - it's more of a long-untrodden dirt path than a lane, these days, but always good to be reminded of a place where I had so much fun. It's where I met my husband, after all!
