I'm now the mother of a 7 year old. And I keep asking myself "how the hell did that happen?"

I do love that when we asked him if he wanted to go out for a birthday dinner, he said "yeah. How about sushi?"

We drove up to Cunningham Falls State Park today. We rented a canoe and went for a paddle, which was most excellent. It reminded me of all the time we spent doing canoe trips with my parents. Maybe I can talk Reil into paddling a river one of these days.

We also hiked up to the falls and took some pictures along the way.

The kids and I went down to the C&O canal and to Glen Echo to hang out after a short school day. It was a nice day, though a bit tiring.

Another 13 years of drama filled afterschool homework time? I can't do it.

If I hear "but mom, it's BOOOOORing" one more time, I just might tear my hair out.

1. It's all fun and games until someone takes an eye out. While sewing last night, I managed to hit one of the hard parts of a zipper, breaking the needle, which flung part of itself in my direction, barely missing an eye. Ouch. Must be more careful about that ( Read more... )
