Without a doubt, it would be a trip to Africa.  I really don't care what part of the continent I landed on, but ideally, I'd see a little of all of it - the Saharan and Mediterranean regions (and of course, Egypt), the jungles, the plains, cities and small towns.  I'd love to see Kilimanjaro and to walk where Lucy walked, to see the cradle of ( Read more... )

Our plan to have a cheap vacation here in California has died an ugly death. Those special tickets we got through Reil's work ended up getting us stuck in Chicago (we didn't realize that not only were we flying stand by, but we were flying bottom of the pile, even the stinky dog gets on before us, stand by. We began our trip to California this weekend.  We left our house at about 9 am on Saturday morning and flew standby from Dulles to Chicago at about 11:30 am, arriving around 12:45.  Then we got to spend the rest of the weekend in Chicago.  That was so not in the plans.  After waiting at each flight that might get us closer to California until about ( Read more... )

Although it's nice and comforting to be home, I already find myself missing London. The gigantic cars here in the States are sort of a surprise and a downer - and after only a week away from home. It's annoying to see pictures of Bush in the media on a regular basis already. I want Indian food to be as easily available as in London ( Read more... )

We're in London right now. (woo hoo!) and I've been posting a few updates in my other LJ, lisabeedesigns if you're interested in seeing what we're up to.

So far, lots of fun. Today, however, I woke up with stomach problems, so am taking the morning off while Reil takes the kids to the Imperial War Museum. We'll see how I feel later in the day.

We drove up to Cunningham Falls State Park today. We rented a canoe and went for a paddle, which was most excellent. It reminded me of all the time we spent doing canoe trips with my parents. Maybe I can talk Reil into paddling a river one of these days.

We also hiked up to the falls and took some pictures along the way.
