Week four, run one today. Week four is structured as below:

• 5 minute warm up walk
• 3 minute run
• 90 second walk
• 5 minute run
• 2.5 minute walk

So I did my third run of week 3 in the couch to 5K this morning. I did my hill run up Mount Eden, and I thought, after the first 90 second run, that I wasn't going to make it. But the 3 minute run went well, and when I got to the second three minute run in the program, I didn't want to stop running, so I didn't -- I extended it out to six minutes ( Read more... )

Had some good advice from CricketK, a great email conversation with G, and read a bunch of threads with ideas on runners forums.

Forums advice went along the lines of

1.   Keep calm and carry on. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other.

I completed my second run of the couch to 5K week three program this morning. It was the hardest run so far.

I didn't, in all honesty, feel like getting up to run this morning. But I did anyway. And then running wasn't as easygoing as usual, because I was breaking in the shoes I bought on Sunday morning after my Sunday run. And I'm finding week ( Read more... )

Today I finished the second week of my 9-week couch-to-5K run. This week's running was structured as below:

5 minute warm up walk

• 90 second run
• 2 minute walk 
• Repeat for a total of 6 runs and 5 walks, and after the last run...

5 minute warm down walk

I just ran my second run in the couch to 5K; I think this one went better than the last, but it was also a morning run, rather than an evening run, and morning exercise suits me far better.
