Had some good advice from CricketK, a great email conversation with G, and read a bunch of threads with ideas on runners forums.
Forums advice went along the lines of
1. Keep calm and carry on. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other.
2. Tell your brain off: "You're here for my run, and you're welcome, but I'm not paying attention to anything you have to say"
3. You're not obligated to run. If it feels bad, give yourself 15 minutes, then go home.
4. Don't emphasise the need to run, think about how lucky you are that you want to run, and get to do it!
5. Get a change of scenery. Run somewhere different and you'll be busy paying attention to that instead of your internal drama.
6. Stop the negative talk. Listening to the feelings in your body rather then the words from your head.
7. Tell yourself you're running for some lifesaving reason. You need to warn someone of an impending bushfire/tsunami/etc!
I'm also playing with my watch to tweak intervals, just in case my Thursday run suffers the same kind of issues. I'm sure getting past this will help me immensely on the following weeks.
