Hat Shore hosts the UNDER THE SEA dance for Valentine's Day (open to all school)

Feb 14, 2011 23:47

Hat Shore party planning had ended up falling mostly into the hands of a couple of contestants, along with set designer Jherek Carnelian. These 'couple' of contestants were actually the Shoggies and Beowulf, who'd squelched and shouted their way toward transforming Hat Shore into a strange Under The Sea experience.

The Hat Shore party's theme was quite apropos for one Skwisgaar Skwigelf, who was in the midst of his recurring monthly period "condition": by means out of his control, he presently had the form of a sharkish merman. Thanks to Jasper's ingenuous spellwork that was still in effect, he could traverse out of water without incurring damage, although he did generally prefer staying in his aquarium during his affliction. It was much more comfortable there, not to mention easier to breathe when fully submerged in water ( ... )

Toki's 'costume' wasn't nearly so complete and impressive as Skwisgaar's sharky form, consisting as it did of a silly, knit catfish hat. The colorful knit fish's mouth formed the hole for the head, and it's floppy tail trailed down, while it's own fu-manchu fell along the sides of Toki's face. He'd been happy to attend the party, both as something to do with Skwisgaar, and an opportunity to see Shoggy 3, who'd been stuck in Hat Shore for the last few weeks ( ... )

((Aww, Toki's hat is the best. Reposted because I forgot something fairly important. :P))

Skwisgaar was having similar thoughts to the Shoggies about the pretty, sparkly fish that were darting about, as they were currently his idea of snack food too. When a school flowed past him in midair, he unconsciously adopted the stillness of a stalking predator -- but something about the fish smelt off, somehow, perhaps due to being out of the water. His intense focus dissolved a moment later when a group of piping Shoggies approached.

"Ja, ams likes a giants fish tanks," he agreed with Toki, "ands a sushi buffet." At least to him. He circled around the expanding group of Shoggies as though attempting to herd them together, and then began handing out the overflowing armful of Shoggy-candy he'd brought, and wished them all a "happy hearts day". The tall, spiny fin lining his back mostly lay folded down, but occasionally rippled as the Shoggies' excitement became a bit infectious. He was pleased that the meat-and-diabetes treats had been so ( ... )

((I apologize for my slowness!))"Whoever mades it should have puts some more brutal sea-stuffs in it. Like sharks, or maybes a giants octopus, or some kinds of sea monster. But I still likes it." And it was possibly a bit more comfortable for the absence of any giant radioactive sea-horse monster things, even if they'd have looked cool. The fish which Jherek had made were mostly of the smallish, colorful fancy sort, some replicating real species relatively well, others entirely imaginary. They did mimic real fish rather well in their behaviors, and, wouldn't taste too bad if eaten. Perhaps a bit dull, as Jherek was better at mimicking appearances than olfactory qualities in his creations. They were usually lacking a little something in that area ( ... )

If anyone asked, he was only here to make sure Yukimura and Kuronue were all right.

Even if Kaga did dress snazzy for it. Not that he never doesn't dress snazzy, but still.

Avoiding the inside for now, he started his search at the lagoon.

Yukimura saw his friend enter and went over to greet him. "Kaga-san, it has been awhile," he said, smiling warmly as he bowed. "Have you been well?" he asked, brushing his hair back. As he'd not been given a chance to pack, the only clothes he had were his regular apparel, his kimono, pants, and haori.

"I have been fine," Kaga said, smiling. "And you two? I can't imagine the Sorting Hat's let up any since dragging you and Kuronue here."

Kuronue snuck up behind Kaga and wrapped his arms around him tentatively, wary of him still being a bit skittish, and gave him a hug which lifted the man up off the ground. "Takeshi! I haven't seen you in a while."

He set him back down politely, came around to stand beside them both, grinning widely.

Turlough did not even want to be here. The surliest of the house elves though threatened him with a cattle prod to get out there.

So he just stood in a shadowy part of the lagoon, hoping to avoid people.

This Hat Shore affair was exceedingly unusual to be sure, but the atmosphere seemed pleasant enough, and the sights intriguing. In all his long years, Legolas had never before encountered fish which swam through the air in the waking world. It didn't take the Elf long to discover the truth of the aquatic life, capable as he was of sensing the true nature of things in ways mortals could not, but this failed to dampen his wonder. He nimbly made his way along the perimeter of the water's edge, following after a particularly bright specimen. If these creatures were not real in the strictest sense of the word, perhaps they could be touched without doing them harm.

When Legolas caught sight of what appeared to be a very real merman drifting through the air (whose features were so strikingly similar to Glorfindel's, only piscine), he practically did a double-take, couldn't help staring for much longer than was polite, and then reluctantly tore his gaze away to continue his pursuit of the shimmering, jewel-like fish. Perhaps he could acquire ( ... )

Teru was definitely only here to make sure Yukimura was all right. Not that anyone was likely to ask him, since he'd come in costume, in the fervent hope that Beowulf wouldn't recognise him. Now he was searching the lagoon, wishing he'd risked transfiguring his glasses into something appropriate to the outfit.

((ooc: Just to make things clear, he is Neptune. Not the mermaid. ;) ))

After parting with Kaga and, more reluctantly, Kuronue, Yukimura spotted what appeared to be Mikami, though he hadn't expected him to be in costume. He crossed the room, coming up beside him. "You're looking well, my friend," he said, smiling gently at Mikami.

"There you are." He smiled faintly in return, relieved. It wasn't surprising that Yukimura had recognised him, so he wasn't any more worried for the integrity of his disguise. "I've been - improving, I think. I came to make sure you were all right in here."

"Your concern is appreciated," Yukimura said, leaning over and giving Mikami a quick kiss on the cheek, not wanting to mess up his costume by ruffling his hair. "And, aside from difficulty in spending time with my lovers, particularly being separated from one, I cannot say I am mistreated here."
