Buffy had learned long ago that she could do more with the help of others than by herself. Sure, she bossed people around and was the General in a lot of ways with the others that helped both in Sunnydale and other places but she knew as she stood at the entrance to the lobby and looked into the ballroom, that this wouldn't have been pulled off

Buffy (OTA)

Buffy had had a hard time letting go and just enjoying the festivities rather than play hostess (or General depending on POV) but she finally let go and just enjoyed it as she would if she'd only been a guest.

She was dressed in black rather than going for the red and white look for Christmas. Buffy also couldn't help but have a fondness for the Holiday Ball. It was when Riley had proposed last year. Buffy's gaze slid around the room, half her thoughts on making sure that everything was going smoothly and the other was looking for people that she knew.

Kilrenko makes her way to Buffy, smiling. "It all looks wonderful! Congratulations so far..."

"Thanks and you helped a lot. I couldn't have done it all without your special touches." She smiled over at Kilrenko. "You look great, by the way. Any takers on your mistletoe hat?"

"Have you met Jack Frost? He's the one who did the ice sculptures. I don't think too many people will still be inclined to not believe in him after this display..."

She grins. "Not yet. Are you offering?"

Oliver - OTA, tag Joan

Oliver was just as much at home in a tuxedo as he was in jeans and his body carried as if he were. This wasn't as elegant as what the Queen family would have done but it was as festive and a lot more fun. He smiled as he grabbed a glass of champagne from one of the floating waiters and began to mingle,always with an eye out for Joan.

Having explained to Sherlock that it was customary, even normal to celebrate a holiday like this, Joan let him to himself and made her way to the ballroom. She'd found the perfect dress dress and shoes and felt pretty good. Oliver of course looked better. Wow. She smiled as she walked up to him. "Hi."

"Hi." Oliver leaned down to kiss her cheek. "You look beautiful." And she did.

"Thanks," she replied, smiling up at him. "This seems like a nice party so far. Been here long?"

Kilrenko (OTA)

Kilrenko wanders through the party areas, looking to socialize with people she knows and to meet people she doesn't know yet.

She wears a green-and-red Christmas-wrapping themed latex dress with a mistletoe hat.

Zoe spotted Kilrenko, which wasn't hard to do in the outfit that she was wearing. "Hey you." She smiled in greeting. "You look great, I like your outfit."

Kilrenko smiles at Zoe. "Merry Christmas, Zoe!" She contemplates Zoe's look a second and adds, "So do you. Blue is definitely a great color for you."

"Thanks! If we had to go outside I definitely would have had a coat or something but in the warmth of the hotel I'm good. And Merry Christmas to you, too. How are you re-settling in?"

Rikki - OTA, gentle nudge Merlin

It wasn't often that Rikki would get dressed up beyond the casual but there were times, like now when she did. She'd found a very pretty black and green dress. Unlike the man that walked by in a tuxedo that looked confident, Rikki looked like she felt she was dressed up in someone else's clothes.

Her hand reached for a beer, no champagne for her, and glanced around the gathering looking for a familiar face.

Merlin was in a tuxedo mostly for Rikki than anyone else. The lady at the store said he looked very handsome and so he took it on faith that he, in fact, did.

When he entered the ballroom, it was hard not to get mesmerized by the decorations. There were so many and they all looked so ornate. He felt that even Camelot would feel jealous of its grandeur. Once he spotted Rikki, though, the rest of the room melted away.

He walked over with a big cheesy grin on his face. "You look beautiful."

Rikki looked down at her dress with a sheepish smile and then back at Merlin. "Thank you. It's not normally me, but I kind of like it." Her smile widened further as she took in how he looked in the Tuxedo. "You look handsome."

He flushed which turned his ears a little red. "Thanks." At least it was nice to see they were both of their comfort zone. It wasn't like Rikki was some princess used to extravagant things and Merlin was expected to keep up.

"This place always looks beautiful at this time of year. I was thinking about how most Kings would be jealous, actually."

Zoe - OTA

Zoe was dressed in a strapless blue dress. This was what she'd missed. Celebrations like this. Sure Planksgiving and all the fun festivals in Bluebell were great but they didn't have dress up balls. At least not ones that didn't include hoop skirts AND NO LEMON BREELAND. So Zoe was enjoying this while she could, indulging in dancing, eating and drinking but especially in conversations with people she knew and others she was going to get to know.

Frank was tugging at his tie; they always made him feel like he was choking. But he caught sight of Zoe and felt like a major heel; he had chickened out of asking her out on that date so far. And she looked great! He smiled a little ruefully as he walked up to her. "Hey," he said.
