Buffy had learned long ago that she could do more with the help of others than by herself. Sure, she bossed people around and was the General in a lot of ways with the others that helped both in Sunnydale and other places but she knew as she stood at the entrance to the lobby and looked into the ballroom, that this wouldn't have been pulled off

Kilrenko wanders through the party areas, looking to socialize with people she knows and to meet people she doesn't know yet.

She wears a green-and-red Christmas-wrapping themed latex dress with a mistletoe hat.

Zoe spotted Kilrenko, which wasn't hard to do in the outfit that she was wearing. "Hey you." She smiled in greeting. "You look great, I like your outfit."

Kilrenko smiles at Zoe. "Merry Christmas, Zoe!" She contemplates Zoe's look a second and adds, "So do you. Blue is definitely a great color for you."

"Thanks! If we had to go outside I definitely would have had a coat or something but in the warmth of the hotel I'm good. And Merry Christmas to you, too. How are you re-settling in?"

"Wonderfully, thank you. I have been given a store, but I haven't visited it yet - I've been working with the host of this," she waves her hand to indicate the party, "since I mostly recovered.

"How have you been?"

"A store? Excellent! What kind of store?" Because you know that Zoe will be shopping in it.

"Everything's going well lately." Zoe made a little face, "I'm not sure if that means another shoe will drop or that it's going well all on its own."

"It's called Antiquitas. Which kind of sounds like an antique store. I guess I'll find out tomorrow or Monday when I go look."

She winks to Zoe. "We'll play as if it's going well all on its own without malevolent Fates intervening. Life is more fun that way..."

"I'd like to think so and you know if it is an antiques store I will definitely come look for something for my office." Zoe was a fan of antiques, moreso since being in Lavon's guest house.

"And I like the way you think. I'm all for ignoring Fates."

Kilrenko smiles and retrieves a couple of glasses of champagne, holding one out to Zoe.

"To a Fateless night," she proposes.

Zoe clicks her glass against hers with a grin. "To a Fateless night. Sort of like Death takes a holiday but not."

"I know this sounds weird but I guess I'm kind of surprised Christmas or a winter holiday made it to the future." Zoe said sheepishly.

"It didn't. But I learned about it when I was here last time." Her tone is warm, considering how Zoe didn't immediately shun her on hearing about Kilrenko's checkered past.

"Ah okay that makes sense." Zoe laughed. "I was going to be really impressed. I bet you have some pretty cool holidays from your time."

Kilrenko laughs lightly. "Each planet or society has different ones... but The Imperial Court only celebrates one - the Emperor's Birthday."

"Okay I get that. I mean if I was going to be an Emperor, I'd want everyone to either celebrate my birthday or when I was crowned or whatever an Emperor gets." She grinned, "way better to remember than the Ides of March when an Emperor got offed."
