Buffy had learned long ago that she could do more with the help of others than by herself. Sure, she bossed people around and was the General in a lot of ways with the others that helped both in Sunnydale and other places but she knew as she stood at the entrance to the lobby and looked into the ballroom, that this wouldn't have been pulled off

Zoe - OTA

Zoe was dressed in a strapless blue dress. This was what she'd missed. Celebrations like this. Sure Planksgiving and all the fun festivals in Bluebell were great but they didn't have dress up balls. At least not ones that didn't include hoop skirts AND NO LEMON BREELAND. So Zoe was enjoying this while she could, indulging in dancing, eating and drinking but especially in conversations with people she knew and others she was going to get to know.

Frank was tugging at his tie; they always made him feel like he was choking. But he caught sight of Zoe and felt like a major heel; he had chickened out of asking her out on that date so far. And she looked great! He smiled a little ruefully as he walked up to her. "Hey," he said.

"Hey you look nice." And he did. Zoe smiled slightly, "if slightly uncomfortable. Rather be in jeans and t-shirt?"

"Something like that," he admitted with a smile. "But you look great of course."

"Thank you." Zoe did a small curtsy, then nodded over toward the food table. "I was heading toward the food table, feel like grabbing some goodies and finding a place to sit?"

"That'd be great," he said, grinning wider. "Sorry I didn't call you. I guess I psyched myself out." Fucking lame excusr, he knew.

"Oh I totally get that." Zoe assured him. "I did the same thing once. Well not calling anyone but I was going to meet someone at a restaurant, a blind date back in Alabama and I psyched myself out and left before I met him."

Technically it was standing the man up but she'd called him with a made up medical emergency.

Well, hey. That actually made Frank feel a lot better; he grinned. "You seem pretty confident," he told her.

"In some things yeah." Zoe admitted, "like school and medicine but relationships." She shook her head, "not so much." And that included relationships like family. "I'm getting better though. It's hard to remember I'm not that girl anymore that only studied and was focused on her career goals."

Wade had helped with that, Zoe could admit that now.

"I gotta be more than the guy whose brother put him on the internet," Frank said ruefully. "So, uh, maybe you'll dance with me?"

"Sure! I'd love to. It's been awhile since I've gone dancing." Zoe said honestly. "So, I might be rusty."

"I probably wouldn't notice," he admitted with a laugh. But he did offer a hand to lead her her to the dance floor.

Zoe slid her hand in his as they headed toward the dance floor. "I'll remind you of that when I step on your foot." She teased.

"But make sure you shout or something if I stop on yours," Frank told her. Thr odds were good, after all.
