Below are notable SSHG stories under 10,000 words posted between July 21, 2007 and July 21, 2008. I couldn’t list every such short story, there would be over 700 of them. Besides ones I personally liked, I’ve listed any recognized by the awards and rec sites Quill to Parchment (QtP), Know It Alls (KIA) and crack_broom, as well as the sshg_awards to highlight those that you might find worthwhile checking out. (Some stories are/will be listed here because of that recognition, and not because I would personally recommend them.)

Just as with Half Blood Prince I thought there was one seminal story posted not a day after publication (snarkyroxy’s What I Know You've Done) which gave the ship hope and direction, when it comes to Deathly Hallows I believe that story to be bambu345’s Saving a Death Eater. That story is now a WIP, but it started as a one-shot, its first chapter stands alone, and only that first chapter is on FanfictionNet as a short story, so I’m listing it here on short stories as well as giving it a place on WIPs.
Post-HBP a ship in shock found consolation with many a story showing how Snape was under orders from Dumbledore, often with Hermione in a quest to discover the truth and establish Snape was no traitor to the Light. Similarly, post-DH you can see in the short stories, especially in the first months after publication, a form of fic therapy indulging in resurrecting Snape in many clever ways: Hermione rescues, often with the use of a time-turner (Saving a Death Eater, Flying Lessons, The Errand, Snapewatch, Boomerang); Horcrux (Ripped and Torn); reincarnation (of sorts-Cuckoo in the Nest: The Baby Dialogues); Portrait ( Design for Afterliving); will ( 5 Things That Happened to Severus Snape After His Death); afterlife (Never Too Late) or dealing with his death (In Apple Blossom Time, The Mortician, In the Light, Hallowed Deaths, That Language He Has Never Spoken).
There’s more to postDH SSHG than that though, and as much as I love the stories above, thank Merlin for that, because if all we were consisted of stories where Snape is saved by bezoar, Fawkes’ tears, blood replenisher, spell, so on, things would get old quickly. There are stories here that take Snape’s survival more or less for granted or ignore DH that run the gamut from romantic fluff (Being for the Benefit of Mr Kite, Double Toil, What Trouble?, On Earth as in Heaven, Spinner's End) a more angsty romance (The Gift of Memory, All the Million Hours), hot PWP (Come With Me, Counting Buttons, One Down) laugh-out-loud humor (let’s hear it for a_bees_buzz’s Biting Back, MLC burned to a crisp), shiv5468’s How Hermione Granger lost her Hymen, parody of the fetishism of virginity and Olethros’ Serpensortia, with a truly unique perspective.) And fics that are truly dark (The Things He Does, At Dawn (The Twilight Prevails), and the chilling, clever true horror story, The Dark Headmaster) and a real tear-jerker (For One Night of the Year) There’s something here for everyone.
Since there’s still plenty of room on this post, I’ll make you a deal. If you loved a short story (no drabbles) in the pairing of the right wordage and time frame, and it isn’t here, let me know, I’ll add it with a note it’s your rec. Bonus Non-SSHG Just Because...

...when the ship (and I) held its breath the night before that book, this made me feel better.
Just as with Half Blood Prince I thought there was one seminal story posted not a day after publication (snarkyroxy’s What I Know You've Done) which gave the ship hope and direction, when it comes to Deathly Hallows I believe that story to be bambu345’s Saving a Death Eater. That story is now a WIP, but it started as a one-shot, its first chapter stands alone, and only that first chapter is on FanfictionNet as a short story, so I’m listing it here on short stories as well as giving it a place on WIPs.
Post-HBP a ship in shock found consolation with many a story showing how Snape was under orders from Dumbledore, often with Hermione in a quest to discover the truth and establish Snape was no traitor to the Light. Similarly, post-DH you can see in the short stories, especially in the first months after publication, a form of fic therapy indulging in resurrecting Snape in many clever ways: Hermione rescues, often with the use of a time-turner (Saving a Death Eater, Flying Lessons, The Errand, Snapewatch, Boomerang); Horcrux (Ripped and Torn); reincarnation (of sorts-Cuckoo in the Nest: The Baby Dialogues); Portrait ( Design for Afterliving); will ( 5 Things That Happened to Severus Snape After His Death); afterlife (Never Too Late) or dealing with his death (In Apple Blossom Time, The Mortician, In the Light, Hallowed Deaths, That Language He Has Never Spoken).
There’s more to postDH SSHG than that though, and as much as I love the stories above, thank Merlin for that, because if all we were consisted of stories where Snape is saved by bezoar, Fawkes’ tears, blood replenisher, spell, so on, things would get old quickly. There are stories here that take Snape’s survival more or less for granted or ignore DH that run the gamut from romantic fluff (Being for the Benefit of Mr Kite, Double Toil, What Trouble?, On Earth as in Heaven, Spinner's End) a more angsty romance (The Gift of Memory, All the Million Hours), hot PWP (Come With Me, Counting Buttons, One Down) laugh-out-loud humor (let’s hear it for a_bees_buzz’s Biting Back, MLC burned to a crisp), shiv5468’s How Hermione Granger lost her Hymen, parody of the fetishism of virginity and Olethros’ Serpensortia, with a truly unique perspective.) And fics that are truly dark (The Things He Does, At Dawn (The Twilight Prevails), and the chilling, clever true horror story, The Dark Headmaster) and a real tear-jerker (For One Night of the Year) There’s something here for everyone.
