Below is listed every single completed SSHG story I could find of over 100,001 words posted between July 21, 2007 and July 21, 2008. I don’t mean to exclude any author or story, so if you know of a completed epic SSHG that was posted during the first year of the post-DH era not listed here, let me know.
I put a star next to the ones I personally liked (I tried all below) and otherwise noted those recognized by awards and rec sites like Quill to Parchment (QtP), Know It Alls (KIA) and crack_broom, as well as the sshg_awards to highlight those that you might find worthwhile checking out.

To me the four standout completed epic fics in the ship of the first year post-DH are lariopefic, Second Life, rhiannon-lune’s (rhiannonofthemoon) For All Intents and Purposes, christinex1001’s The Quality of Mercy and zeegrindylows’ Where Your Treasure Is .
When Grindy’s story was posting I ate it up like manna from heaven. It’s a sprawling work, and took a few chapters for me to get into, but beyond that I was really and truly hooked. The story was posted very soon after Deathly Hallows when we were all still in shock, and what stood out for me and made me want to cheer in the fic was the use of DH canon-the characterization of Dudley, of Petunia, the way it dealt with Lily, and the aftermath of DH for the trio and Harry’s relationship with Snape. I loved how it took that canon, and read like a 8th Year HP book, if Rowling wrote Snape/Hermione, going from the ride on the Express to the end of that year. And I loved how it was canon-compliant down to the epilogue, working with and subverting Rowling all through, and still giving us our Snape/Hermione.
The story by Rhianonofthemoon took a different route. It’s a time-turner of sorts, or rather time-travel, playing with different AUs, and I have never read one like this, where Hermione kept going back and forth between the past and future, and each time you wonder-is it enough to save Snape? Lovely style, perfectly-paced, suspenseful and imaginative, it’s my favorite post-DH SSHG.
Christine’s story was just completed. What I loved in this story was the intelligence with which Snape and Hermione are portrayed-a story that is old-fashioned in a sense in the ship, even though this story is basically canon-compliant other than the epilogue-a tale of “geek love,” a “meeting of the minds” romance.
I came to Lariope's story late. I was put off by a summary and a first chapter than led me to think of it as just another MLC. It was actually deeble's plug for it in a comment below that led me to take another chance on it, and past the first few chapters, I could see I had something special. lulabelle72's An Unreasonable Man is also a well-written MLC variant, and one with a very different "alpha male" vision of Snape.
Edit 11-11-09: And Being Hermione Granger? Off my radar when I first posted this since it went on hiatus at below novel-length. But the author resumed the story about a year later and when I caught up with it, the story reminded me why I do love this ship. One of the best Hermione coming of age stories I've read in the ship. She feels very real.

To me the four standout completed epic fics in the ship of the first year post-DH are lariopefic, Second Life, rhiannon-lune’s (rhiannonofthemoon) For All Intents and Purposes, christinex1001’s The Quality of Mercy and zeegrindylows’ Where Your Treasure Is .
When Grindy’s story was posting I ate it up like manna from heaven. It’s a sprawling work, and took a few chapters for me to get into, but beyond that I was really and truly hooked. The story was posted very soon after Deathly Hallows when we were all still in shock, and what stood out for me and made me want to cheer in the fic was the use of DH canon-the characterization of Dudley, of Petunia, the way it dealt with Lily, and the aftermath of DH for the trio and Harry’s relationship with Snape. I loved how it took that canon, and read like a 8th Year HP book, if Rowling wrote Snape/Hermione, going from the ride on the Express to the end of that year. And I loved how it was canon-compliant down to the epilogue, working with and subverting Rowling all through, and still giving us our Snape/Hermione.
The story by Rhianonofthemoon took a different route. It’s a time-turner of sorts, or rather time-travel, playing with different AUs, and I have never read one like this, where Hermione kept going back and forth between the past and future, and each time you wonder-is it enough to save Snape? Lovely style, perfectly-paced, suspenseful and imaginative, it’s my favorite post-DH SSHG.
Christine’s story was just completed. What I loved in this story was the intelligence with which Snape and Hermione are portrayed-a story that is old-fashioned in a sense in the ship, even though this story is basically canon-compliant other than the epilogue-a tale of “geek love,” a “meeting of the minds” romance.
I came to Lariope's story late. I was put off by a summary and a first chapter than led me to think of it as just another MLC. It was actually deeble's plug for it in a comment below that led me to take another chance on it, and past the first few chapters, I could see I had something special. lulabelle72's An Unreasonable Man is also a well-written MLC variant, and one with a very different "alpha male" vision of Snape.
Edit 11-11-09: And Being Hermione Granger? Off my radar when I first posted this since it went on hiatus at below novel-length. But the author resumed the story about a year later and when I caught up with it, the story reminded me why I do love this ship. One of the best Hermione coming of age stories I've read in the ship. She feels very real.
