Moved in this weekend. My apartment is in East Boston, in this wonderful little ethnic neighbourhood full of corner groceries and hole-in-the-wall restaurants. And, amazingly, it is even nicer in person than in the photos. Walmart's "new and improved" put-it-together-yourself bookcase is anything but. It's supposedly easier because it comes with some of the pieces already put together, but I found that it just made adding the rest that much more awkward. So I knew things were going too smoothly. Apparently there was some nasty weather in the middle part of the country last night. My flight got cancelled. They told me the best they could do out of Baltimore was tonight at 5:15, getting me into Baton Rouge after 10. So the move went well. We drove about 3/4 of the way on Sunday, making it to Mobile, AL before stopping for the night. From Mobile to Baton Rouge was only about a 3 hour drive Monday morning so we actually got the whole truck unpacked Monday. So, today is my last day at the Med School Library. Tomorrow will be my last day at Thomas Cooper. A week from tomorrow I will be heading out to Louisiana. So I've got one big week of frantic packing left, essentially.

• Cancel electric service at current apartment
• Cancel phone service at current apartment
• Cancel internet service at current apartment
• Transfer current lease to Tommy's name
• Request medical records from student health center

So I found my apartment. It's a little further away from LSU than I had really hoped, probably about a 15 min drive on the interstate on a good day. I'll have to see if I can't find some back roads into campus for when the interstate clogs up, as I'm sure it will do frequently. Still not too bad of a commute ( Read more... )
