I have an apartment

So I found my apartment. It's a little further away from LSU than I had really hoped, probably about a 15 min drive on the interstate on a good day. I'll have to see if I can't find some back roads into campus for when the interstate clogs up, as I'm sure it will do frequently. Still not too bad of a commute.

It's near the interstate, and the intersection of two local highways. Pretty much anything I might need store/service-wise is within a 5 minute drive.

It's a one-bedroom apartment, 728 square feet. It has a walk-in closet, a fully equipped kitchen including dishwasher and garbage disposal, a huge living/diningroom area, a balcony overlooking some woodlands, a large bathroom with bathtub (not just a shower stall -- I look forward to being able to take baths again), and (get this) a working fireplace.

The community is attractively laid-out, very private, and has onsite laundry facilities, two pools, and a hot tub.

Oh, and reptiles are allowed.

In short, it's just about everything I said I wanted.

My application's been approved and they're holding it pending receipt of my security deposit. They didn't bat an eyelash at 3 cats, and are only charging me a $200 pet deposit for all three.

It was a very successful scouting trip, I must say :)
