James Alliston Clinic
I attended a weekend clinic at Alhambra with California event rider, James Alliston. Tyson and I got to try out the new (but very old and FREE) trailer. It was a bit slow going as we decided in the name of space, to put all our belongings and hay in the front of the trailer and then the two horses in the back. Saddle woes...again and new horse introductions!
Meet Tumnus! Tyson decided he would rather not just sit and watch me ride all the time (he generally comes out 3-4 times a week with me) and bought this young guy. Now I have reservations about him getting an unstarted horse but at the same time, he seems to have a good head on his shoulders and likes a job so hopefully it will work out ( Read more... ) -
To sum up the last week
Finally get my anatomic girth today and now I will attempt to ride Whin in my new saddle and pray that it actually stays where it's supposed to. I'll be so depressed if it doesn't. Uterus and saddle woes
But first, a little TMI post for all y'alls. February 19th I started my period one week early. It was fairly typical and nothing unusual other than being early. THree days after it finished, I began to spot. I was using tampons sometimes even. I spotted for 5 days until March 6. Five days later, I began my period. I love my horse
Had a lesson with Whin last night. We started out trying to get a nice stretchy trot and get that relaxed back feel but Whin would just curl up and then root down. She was tense and rammy so enough is enough and I began pushing her around. Lots of shoulder-ins and haunches-in. She settled quite nicely after a bit and then had a lovely trot. I drank the Kool-Aid
So I had a saddle fitter out to look at Whin. None of my tack fits her and nothing I try on her seems to fit her properly. Donna from Precision Saddle Fitting came out to look at her. I wouldn't normally go this route but literally everything I rode in tipped me forward or rolled on her. Donna confirmed that due to a wide array of conformation ( Read more... )
