I attended a weekend clinic at Alhambra with California event rider, James Alliston. Tyson and I got to try out the new (but very old and FREE) trailer. It was a bit slow going as we decided in the name of space, to put all our belongings and hay in the front of the trailer and then the two horses in the back. Had a lesson with Whin last night. We started out trying to get a nice stretchy trot and get that relaxed back feel but Whin would just curl up and then root down. She was tense and rammy so enough is enough and I began pushing her around. Lots of shoulder-ins and haunches-in. She settled quite nicely after a bit and then had a lovely trot. We ( Read more... )

This past weekend I rode Whin in a two day Danny Foster clinic.  Going in I was a bit apprehensive because essentially all I had heard about him was that he was arrogant, could make people cry, and insisted everyone ride with long reins BUT that he was phenomenal.  He's actually made multiple people at Limited Edition cry in his clinics over the ( Read more... )

Rode my pony in her first jumping lesson last night.  She was so good!  Steph rode Reign as well so we weren't alone and it went very well.  Whin loves jumping and is very brave. This spring we painted all the jumps on the property so they're all bright and fancy.  Despite her first time over fences we jumped a course including a cute little oxer, ( Read more... )

Actually Whin has mostly mare moments.  She was SO deliciously good and so I decided to have a lesson to help me catch the habits I'll start to let her form.  The arena was soupy so we rode up in the grass field where our stadium/x-country fences are set up.  She's been up there before and was a bit tense and distracted but overall good.  Well she ( Read more... )
