Gothcruise 6 is done! Almost back
I'm *almost* back from Gothcruise 6. As always, I had a load of fun. Met a bunch of folks I hadn't seen since last cruise, met some new faces, and missed the ones that couldn't make it this time.

Time for a real vacation
I've officially been on vacation for a week now, but that didn't stop work from calling. Twice. Thankfully, Gothcruise is just 2 days away.
sarahredhead dropped me off at the airport this morning and I'm currently in Omaha, NE visiting Autumn. Tomorrow I'm hopping on a plane bound for Fort Lauderdale, and then Monday is cruise time!

Well, fan-fucking-tastic. My car started fine this morning, drove it 8 miles to the coffee shop where we hold an off-site meeting to get away from the office. I go to get back to the office and... car refuses to start.
So now I'm sitting Brecht's repair lobby waiting for an estimate. And they currently don't have any loaner vehicles at the moment, ( Read more... ) -

I pushed out a change yesterday that ended up killing mail service across a thousand Linux boxes, about 5% of all the IT managed machines. Unfortunately that 5% tended to be a more important 5% than most. Fortunately no one noticed except for one guy and I released a patch which fixed them all up in about an hour.

I haven't posted in months. It feels like all I've been doing is work, lately, so why not post about that?
Over the last year and a half my group's lost two people. Both of them jumped ship to other groups still within Qualcomm. The Linux imaging stuff the first guy was doing got shifted elsewhere, but anything else he was doing fell to the ( Read more... ) -
Booked!
Yay! I finally got around to paying off my Gothcruise balance (FYI, last chance: Jul 6). Now I just have plane tickets and hotel reservations to worry about.
I really need to look into having a decent vacation other than this every year, though. Seeing as I get 5 weeks a year, only spending 1 week away from work is... taxing.
