I pushed out a change yesterday that ended up killing mail service across a thousand Linux boxes, about 5% of all the IT managed machines. Unfortunately that 5% tended to be a more important 5% than most. Fortunately no one noticed except for one guy and I released a patch which fixed them all up in about an hour.

Yay! I finally got around to paying off my Gothcruise balance (FYI, last chance: Jul 6). Now I just have plane tickets and hotel reservations to worry about.

I really need to look into having a decent vacation other than this every year, though. Seeing as I get 5 weeks a year, only spending 1 week away from work is... taxing.

I'm headed to Disneyland tomorrow since I got a 2fer pass from a team building event. It expires on Saturday, so tomorrow is just as good as any to cash in on it. A bunch of coworkers were doing the same... at least until today.

Do not write and debug code intensively for 6 hours with little social interaction, and then immediately go to a foreign language class.

Someone asked what I was doing with all that RSA crypto stuff in my last post.

So I wrote this file auditing Perl script for a division at work that needed that functionality but didn't want to spend a chunk of change on Tripwire licenses or what have you.
