I came across this and thought I'd pass it along. It discusses the journey gay Mormons specifically, but explores things I'm sure that many gays who come from religious backgrounds have experienced. It looks at religion, obviously, but also psychology, social and family acceptance, etc. -
Harry Potter casts spell against gay teen suicide
It isn't a surprise that entertainers tend to be more liberal and gay-friendly, or that younger generations tend to be. Nor is it news that Daniel Radcliffe is gay-affirming. But he made news today because he made a major contribution to the Trevor Project, which is a 24/7 hot line for LGBT teens who are contemplating suicide. -
Gay ‘cure’ still sought by some therapists
A new study out of the UK has found that 1/6 of therapists try to "cure" their homosexual patients, by turning them heterosexual. And there may be under reporting, since it isn't mainstream.
If 17% of British therapists admit to it, I wonder how many do in the U.S. -
Parents' response key to health of gay youth
It may seem like common sense, but a new study has found that parental reaction to a kid coming out is very important to their mental health. Depression (6x more likely), drug abuse (3x), and attempting suicide (8x) are much more likely if the parents react negatively ( Read more... ) -

Again, this focuses on race and how the Republican Party has pretty much ignored the black vote. Which is, unfortunately, true (although there were several high profile races last November involving black Republican candidates, but they all lost). But again, I think it's indicative of the GOP's increasingly white heterosexual male outreach.
