Harry Potter casts spell against gay teen suicide

Aug 10, 2009 18:15

It isn't a surprise that entertainers tend to be more liberal and gay-friendly, or that younger generations tend to be. Nor is it news that Daniel Radcliffe is gay-affirming. But he made news today because he made a major contribution to the Trevor Project, which is a 24/7 hot line for LGBT teens who are contemplating suicide.

cool, teenage sexuality, pop culture, mental health

I'm not surprised, he gave a great interview in Attitude Magazine last month. He seems like a really nice guy.

I know next to nothing about Radcliffe but I think his contribution to this hotline is lovely. I love when celebrities use their fame to bring issues like this to the public eye.

He isn't. Since when do you have to be gay to give money to a cause that works to prevent suicide in young people?

He's not. He's just very supporting of LGBTQ rights.

A quote by him: "I just loathe homophobia. It's just disgusting and animal and stupid and it's just thick people who can't get their heads around it and are just scared."
