Well, whaddya know - we have a white Christmas. Can't remember the last time that happened, but almost an inch of snow fell today, just enough to touch up everything. Nice. Yup. Just about got Mom's done too. A few stocking stuffers here and there, and that's it. Phew. Yucky freezer picked up and disposed of professionally, car packed for craft show tomorrow, got CJ a new 'cone of shame', watched a bunch of movies. CJ went back to the doggie dentist today for her followup. She's lost a pound (I think Roxie found it) and the dentist thinks her mouth is almost healed, but he wanted her to wear the cone for another 5-7 days. Wanna guess what CJ did today? The heater died sometime Thursday, and none of the small fixes suggested to me worked, so we had to have a repair guy come in and fix it. His company forgot to call before he came over, so I had to rescue him from CJ. Turned out a part in the heater had called it a career, fortunately he was able to fix it and we finally got heat back ( Read more... )

...not so much. I'm fighting a cold now, on top of everything else, like a stomach that just won't calm down, and a shoulder that hurts so much I can't move my arm. I hate to think what I'd be like if the election had gone the other way. Meanwhile, my dang mutt is chasing squirrels and scraping her collar off every five minutes. I'm jealous.

The weight of the dentist bill is heavy. My gut, which hasn't been doing well to start with, really didn't take this new batch of stress well and I was up half the night partly because of that and partly because CJ couldn't find a comfortable position and whimpered nonstop. CJ is now home from the doggie dentist. She had to have both lower canines extracted, and the one that was broken to begin with was abscessed. (The other was misshapen and unstable; the dentist said it would either break off or break her jaw in the near future.) The bill so far is $1,680.00. Also known as six weeks' take-home pay.
