I am very, very thankful to have had Mosely in my life this year. And I'm going to share him - he's now a certified therapy dog :)  (Mom's nursing home was bummed yesterday because I didn't bring Mose with me, heh.)

In a fit of insanity, I decided to go up to NYC, just an up-and-back on the MegaBus, to meet up with some Twitter pals and set off in search of the Daredevil film set and, hopefully, Charlie Cox. Which reminds me, I didn't post the drawing of Charlie I finished Monday night.

Last year, I barely managed to be at Balticon because of Mom issues. So I was promoted from volunteer to staff. Go figure. This year, I managed to rack up 30 hours on the job in the art show. Except, that's all I did. One pass of the dealer's room, two panels (one of which was in the art show room), never set foot in the west side of the hotel much ( Read more... )

Technically Balticon continued today, but I slept in instead. My legs were all bruises and muscles pulls, Mom & CJ were cranky, and there really isn't much to it on Mondays, so I picked up some crabs (first ones this season) and settled in for a bunch of movies on FioS' special free OnDemand promotion. This weekend, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra performed along with the Charlie Chaplin film 'Modern Times' in Baltimore & Silver Spring. I gave thought to taking Mom on Mother's Day until I saw the ticket prices - $63 a pop. An awful lot for a movie that's already on my DVR. The intended family shindig/memorial for my uncle Jim didn't quite go off as planned yesterday, as Jim's best friends couldn't make it and my younger uncle had a diabetic, blind, deaf and partially paralyzed Labrador in tow. Our extra freezer died last November, costing us a ton of meat and a lot of aggravation (and stink). Now it appears that at the very least, the freezer part of our refrigerator has quit. Half the stuff in there has thawed, mostly the things on the top shelf or in the door. The basket seems to be OK so far. The fridge itself isn't too cold either. ( Read more... )
