Idris Elba has won a Golden Globe for 'Luther'. Please me to know I'm not the only one watching and loving that show :)

Here I sit and wait for the Dr Who special...not patiently, I assure you! It's already been a Doctor-ful weekend, as I recorded several specials from BBC America and one of my gifts was the Series 5 DVD set. Last night I watched the season finales of Treme and Luther. And both of them felt like series finales, not season enders. I hope I'm wrong about that, but I have seen/heard nada on either show.

And still a show short of being caught up, much less getting started on the movies occupying the DVR.

Congratulations to Idris Elba, who picked up a Golden Globe nomination yesterday, for 'Luther'. Apparently, on occasion, good television/acting does get recognized. Awesome.

Somehow I failed to mention that Luther has not only made it to BBC America already, but, at least for the first episode, BBCA didn't eviscerate it to make it 'palatable' to Americans. It ran cut only for language. Ah, bliss. For those who haven't seen it, I strongly recommend it. Assuming you can handle dark, that is. Very dark. Awesome.

Last week I made a comment on the Sun's film blog about Idris Elba being named the new Alex Cross. The upshot being, congrats to Elba, but please don't stop working on Luther. We need more Luther ( Read more... )

Yup. BBC America has picked up Luther for airing in the USA. No dates yet.

Although, the idea of a 58 minute show being chopped up into 42 minutes does distress me...
