So, dere readers, I left you as the bridal party were about to leave the house. Actually, I left the house before F and Dave, getting to the church in time to watch my brother's spectacular reverse manoeuvre and greet the bridesmaids.

Firstly, many thanks to many of you for all your good wishes. The wedding was about as good as it can get, and there will be many pictures for your delectation. This may take more than one post, however, as I want to try to get it all written for my own future reading, as well as for anyone with the stamina to get through it all here.

Four bridesmaids, the bride and I have now had our hair done. Flowers have arrived and, where relevant, been despatched to the groom's family. F and I have painted our faces and I am wearing my mother-of-the-bride outfit. Time just seems to creep up on me. I'm busy re-reading Pendennis, the Thackeray blockbuster which inspired Virginia Woolf's attack on Victorian mega-novels, as I have to concoct eight thousand words on it by the end of next month. Once more I join the chorus of "where did the month go?" This time last month we were in the glorious Midi, and now we're back in slightly soggy England. To be fair, it has been warm and with some lovely days, but this weekend has had its soggy moments.
