So for various reasons, I find myself in a position where buying a dwelling instead of renting one will be a possibility next summer (flatmate is getting married, I suspect she and her husband will want their own place ;) And by suspect I mean "know"). Exciting adventures!
Yesterday's adventure was not hugely exciting in itself -- I drove to Ottawa and back -- but it was exciting because my niece C. was with me. We went to the National Art Gallery, where she astutely pointed out that "the museum IS art, because it's not built how you'd expect!" which is frankly a pretty good observation for a nine-year-old. When I Grow Up...
I spent last weekend at Guide camp with fifteen nine-to-twelve-year-olds. Some of them were from another Guide unit than the one I volunteer with, and so we'd been getting to know each other. Manitoba had a provincial election today (the Progressive Conservative* party won by a landslide) which got me thinking about my own province's next election. It won't be for another two years, so I'm not thinking about it particularly urgently, mind. But it's interesting. Why Gender Balance is Important, Small-Scale
On Saturday I was over the moon and practically dancing with glee at the news that I'd been shortlisted for a fiction award (go me). The e-mail informing me of this also asked me to keep it to myself until the shortlist had been made public, which I did.
