Princess Cruises Food Porn

I just got back from a 10 day Baltic cruise on the Star Princess, and while I am not coming with photos of the food (my husband hates "pretentious" food, so we mainly stuck to the 24 hour buffet, and it's not really pretty looking), I do come bearing recipes that I got from one of the executive chefs. I went to a cooking demonstration that he gave ( Read more... )

presentation doesn't have to be pretentious! sneak some garnishes in and hubby may soon realize that food can be beautiful as well as tasty! it's a multi-sensory experience.

I know...it's more the snooty names with food that he takes issue with. Ridiculous, I know.

that's fixed easily enough -- instead of Penne All'Arrabiata it's "spaghetti". men like things to be simple. "wow, this spaghetti looks great! and the spaghetti's are ... like little tubes or something. crazy!"

I had a sister-in-law that was the same way. We made Chicken Tetrazzini once - she wouldn't eat it until we reheated it and called it chicken and noodles.

Oh, what a shame! The food in the dining room is so much better than in the buffet! I've been on a lot of cruise lines and Princess is among the best!

Yeah, I was a bit miffed that we didn't eat dinner in the main dining room, but he's a REALLY picky eater and doesn't do well with set menus. We ate one lunch in the formal dining room (they always serve cheeseburgers) and I went to afternoon tea in one, so I was able to try the better food.

I was on a Princess cruise three years ago and I thought the food was pretty darn good - even the buffet, which, as you say, was not allt hat pretty-looking). The restaurant food was good too, not too many frou-frou arrangements - overall we were very happy with it!

I have to admit, the food in the buffet gave me indigestion almost daily. I had afternoon tea in one of the dining rooms a week ago, and we had lunch in one of the dining rooms as well...I had this awesome salad there that I could never get in the buffet.

I thought the variety of international foods in the buffet was really good though.
