“Let’s recap one more time….” Colby said and rubbed his temples. “You and Ian are trying to work out your issues.”

“Yeah.” David confirmed.
“And you’re doing it by dating another guy.”
“No, we’re both dating him. Or…. He’s dating both of us.”
“So what the hell do you do? Get an extra wide bed?”
“We don’t…. I mean…. We don’t do that.”
“Then what’s the point?”
“We’re trying to spend more time together, have fun together like we used in the beginning.”
“And what does Bobby do in that picture?”
“He’s…. well…. Like a referee. Ian’s…. well, it feels like he’s courting both of us.”
“Courting? Does anyone even use that term anymore?”

“It’s a good word for it.”
“Is it working?”
“I think so. Ian’s been…. I’m not sure how to say it. Warmer, maybe. More attentive. Whatever that shrink is telling him it seems to help.”

“New and improved Edgerton, same flavour, less calories….”
“Something like that.”
“And you don’t do stuff with Bobby? He’s just there for company?”
“We’ve kissed few times, but that’s all. Me and Bobby, I mean. But he and Ian are getting chummier than I thought.”
“I can’t even imagine that.”
“Neither did I, but they find something they both like.”
“You?”
“Nature hikes. They’ve been on hiking trips fives times in the last two weeks. Two nature nuts unite.”

“How long are you gonna continue that?”
“I don’t know. It’s kinda nice actually.”
“Having two guys probably is. For a while. What happens when you want to be alone with Ian?”
“We are alone. Bobby spends the nights at his place and Ian and I share a bed just like always.”

“I don’t get it.” Colby shook his head and dumped his coffee cup into the trashcan. “I just don’t get it. How did Ian even come up with that idea?”

“I think that was mostly my fault.”
“How?”
“It`s not that interesting-”
“David.”
“Did you wanna go get some lunch? I could eat a hot dog-”
“David, you`re avoiding the question. And that`s not the only weird part about this….Look me in the eye.”
“Colby-”
“Look me in the eye and answer truthfully and don’t try to come up with some lame excuses: What’s up? What’s going on with you?”

“I had a dream.”
“Oh yeah, a dream…. You had a dream and suddenly your stay-away-or-I’ll-shoot-hubbie is into threesomes without sex.”

“Do you wanna hear this or not?”
“Tell me.”
“I had a dream about me and Ian and Bobby. All of us together.”
“Doing what?”
“What do you think?”
“Oh that….”
“According to his shrink, my subconscious desires may have a positive effect on our relationship if we actualise them correctly.”
“You’re just quoting him, aren’t you?”

“Yeah, but it’s working!”
“For now. Mark my words: Triangle has a lot of sharp points and sooner or later someone’s gonna get hurt.”
“Triangle has just three sharp points.”

“I don’t need to know that, I have a mathematician for that.”
--------------------------------------------

Charlie jumped three feet into the air when the door of his office was suddenly shoved open. Ian marched in and settled on the opposite side of the desk.
“Professor.”
“We haven’t seen you for a while so you decided to say hello by giving me a heart attack?”
“I knocked and you didn’t respond.”
“Because I’m working. Why are you here?”
“I want a favour from you.”

“You play the invisible man for ages and now you need a favour.”
“Can we skip the pleasantries? I need the name and number of that friend of your who rents that cabin in Big Bear.”
“I got it somewhere….” Charlie pulled out his cell phone and started browsing through the name list. “Are you planning a get-away?”

“Just a weekend trip. I haven’t told David yet, but I already booked a babysitter.”
“A romantic weekend for you two?”
“For us three.”

“Ian, if you don’t wanna tell me just say so.” Charlie frowned. “Here’s the number.”
