Picked up a CD of the best of Oysterband in a library sale the other day. It's good stuff. The album they did with June Tabor is still one of my all-time favourites.

The songwriter Norman Whitfield died last week.

Installed latest version on iTunes yesterday. Had a play with the modestly-named "Genius" function. It generates playlists based on a song you choose from your library. Mixed results so far. Went to a really cool gig on Monday. Along with inkognitoh, silverjet_allie, minx2012 and Pete. Sea songs and chanteys aplenty, me buckoes, gar! There were a few eccentric performances, but overall it was awesome. Eliza Carthy and her parents were really cool, representing the "proper folk" contingent. As was Julie Fowlis singing in Gaelic.
