I'm trying to figure out what is best for my mare training-wise.

Whatever other issues are at play here, the bottom line is that your horse doesn't respect you. As someone else said, she has your number and is doing whatever she wants because she can. Basically, stop coddling her. Bonding over brushing and grazing isn't going to correct her rearing, biting, kicking, bucking and striking problems. Ever. It's just a matter of time before she will seriously hurt you.

I agree with what everyone else is saying. Find a trainer that can come to you on a weekly basis to work both you and the mare consistently. If the trainer you have now is too busy to work you in, you need to find someone who can. You can also look into boarding her with a trainer - it's not as expensive as you might think, and I'm sure people here can point you in the right direction to find a good one. (Trainers will include the cost of board, hay/grain and training in their monthly fee.) Crunch some numbers and see if you can do this for a few months.

Good luck!

I do feel kind of bad for you because I know you just want what's best for this horse, but you've got to realize she can hurt you if you continue down this path ( ... )
