Lots going on this weekend. Decided it was time to finally tackle the tiling project in the bathroom head-on, instead of just pussy-footing around it. So Friday night we finished taking out the sink and ripping off the remaining Formica, and took measurements for what we needed.

Went out to Astoria this weekend to see family and also because the Scandinavian dancing group I was in for years was having a reunion at the Scandinavian Festival this weekend. At Norwescon, caught a few minutes to check email, etc and saw a friend of mine from the glass studio had posted this video of a marble track another artist at the studio had made - made entirely out of borosilicate glass (pyrex) tubing and some rubber joints. Got an ice cream maker for my birthday (we had one earlier, but it broke :(  ). So....this inspired flashes back to my childhood where we'd go to the local ice cream shop and get black licorice ice cream that would turn our tongues green. Been busy this weekend, two 5 gallon batches, one yesterday & one today are now fermenting. Fast forward a couple of weeks and then we'll be bottling/kegging, and then a bit more and we'll be drinking - want to help?

Batch 1: Coffee porter (from a kit, brewed coffee added to porter kit)
Batch 2: Cherry stout (not from kit)

So, (after turkey-day) I'm going to be at the Expo Center here in Portland (in North Portland, near the border with Vancouver, WA).

Come see me!! I'll be there the weekend after Thanksgiving (Black Friday weekend), and the weekend after (weekend of the 6th).
