At Norwescon, caught a few minutes to check email, etc and saw a friend of mine from the glass studio had posted this video of a marble track another artist at the studio had made - made entirely out of borosilicate glass (pyrex) tubing and some rubber joints. Between the wonderfully sunny weather and the return of the camera, I managed to get outside tonight and take cleaned up photos of my glass stuff! Yay! (it really needed it)

So last night I did something new, instead of riding my motorcycle to the glass studio (the usual) for the class I took, I rode my bicycle instead. It's far enough away that it's a workout for me (at least for now), but close enough I can manage (even my out-of-shape self) to still guarantee I'll get there and back alright ( Read more... )

What is Mardi Gras? In this case, it's glass (clear) with stringer (long, skinny 1mm strings of glass) and frit (little bitty crumbs of glass) melted into it. I love the stuff, I think it makes neat designs - especially since it has a definite directional pattern to it. This most recent batch from the studio I played with it - a lot. Took some pictures of the things I did my most recent stop at the studio. Starting to learn how to take better pictures. :)

I did 8 of these in all, only 5 of them were done when I went to pick them up the other day. The other 3 are similar, but different color schemes (black & white, and cools I believe).

So here's some pics of what I've been doing these past couple weekends. They look much better in person - I'm still trying to figure out how to get the camera to actually focus on them - with the glass and the transparency of them, it likes to make fuzzy pictures.
