Bank Holiday Fun

May 30, 2006 15:59

I had a good day on the bank holiday yesterday. At 4.30a.m. I got a text from my brother telling me that my new niece had just been born. (Just over 8 lb in old money, and mother and baby both well.) We're hoping that they and **FIXME Daffodil might be close cousins since they'll be so close in age. (Less than two months to go till the big day ( Read more... )

baby, holiday, sarcasm, public-transport, **fixme-daffodil, battery-acid, personal, weather

I haven't read anything by Jack Johnston but I do have a copy of "The MultiOrgasmic Man". It's usually filed next to "Moby Dick" on my bookshelf though things have got a bit chaotic lately.

I did actually practice all the steps in "the Multi-Orgasmic Man" and got good enough to do it, but not in company. Which is kind of missing the point but... you know. It's like being able to juggle but only when nobody is watching. Then again, that's probably the best type of juggling.

*laughs* I do like your shelving system. Although I'm a bit alarmed at the idea of a Captain Ahab of the Multi-Orgasmic Man world.

Very impressive that you got it to work even if only when flying solo. Is it worth it?

I've nothing against juggling among consenting adults in private.

"The whale, the great white... oh... oh no, managed to hold it."

Hmm... Well, yes and no. The thing about masturbation is, and perhaps this is just me, I've never thought "I wish this would go on for much longer" because really, it's an activity where you work at your own pace anyway. Hmm... sort of like a PhD actually. Totter along doing your own thing for a while but it tends to speed up towards the end.

Well Done You! girl_patrick May 30 2006, 22:32:07 UTC
I'm a bit behind the curve on this but fabbo-congratulations on the baby front, although I feel that the name **FIXME Daffodil will definitely confuse the registrar at the office of Births Marriages & Deaths. Mind you, you have to feel sorry for whomever was responsible for changing Prince's name back and forth - do you think they needed a special symbol installing onto their keyboard to enable them to do it? Or did they just bodge a hand-written version?

The mind boggles

Thanks for the congrats.

**FIXME Daffodil is a placeholder name - see discussion here. Although I'm starting to think I might keep calling them that on LJ after they're born.

The Artist Formerly And Currently Known As Prince probably had enough money to pay for a special symbol to be installed. Actually, given how enthusiastic Prince fans can be, I bet you could sell them a special key to go on their keyboard ... hmm - a marketing opportunity missed there, I feel.

I had a dream with you in last night!

I dreamed i went to visit you in Milton Keynes, but i got a bit lost. I'm not quite sure what happened but there was some sort of small gathering, it was lovely to see you and we talked about natural pregnancy stuff!
It was nice!

Congrats on the new niecelet.

I am rapidly coming to the conclusion that Buses Are Eevil. Rather than cycling or walking to my therapy room, i have been (trying!) to catch buses to save on energy - but they are total bastard things with incomprehensible, nonsensical timetables!

I thought Jack Johnson recently released some rather nice songs, but i think i might be a bit confused...

Well, maybe your dream can come true! It'd be good to see you some time. We could even attempt to avoid the getting lost bit, unless you're keen on that. We could even get mr_lovelace and syllopsium along too and have a small gathering - maybe drop me an email?

Buses can be really good when done right - the ones in Paris are great, and London's are fairly good. But yeah, when you need to look at timetables to work out when you can go they can be really rubbish.

I'd really like to visit you - it's mainly an issue of money i'm afraid, closely followed by time *unsmile*

Perhaps later on this year? A small gathering sounds possibly even more fun!

Btw - you're always welcome down here. Will we see you at Brighton Pride d'you think? Possibly mit sprog?

Sure - later on this year for a small gathering. Will be more complex for me to schedule after July, obviously, but I'd very much like to.

Don't know about Brighton Pride, and the current plan is to leave the decision very late. I'd love to come along with the baby, but a long day trip like that very much depends on how things are working out for us. If they're happy and settled by then it'll be great, but if they're colicky and need a lot of work (or their parents are too knackered to contemplate it!) then it's probably not a goer.

A visit down your way before the baby's born is a possibility though - will do some diary planning and email you.

Hooray indeed! And thanks for the welcome. What precisely is it a welcome to?
