I've lost the original source for this, but road accident fatalities in the
UK have dropped dramatically over the period 2000-2013. I think I heard
that they had started to climb again recently, which is what prompted me to
go get this graph.

There's a big brown-field development going on in my village. The developer has stuck a flyer through my door announcing a public exhibition on the next phase. It's full of guff about how they've met locals' concerns. One of the things they highlight is a new bus service they're subsidising as part of planning gain for the first two phases. Bruce Schneier, all-round amazing chap, usefully points out that all this malarkey with "no liquids on planes", and the "no sharp objects except the ones you buy in duty free" isn't real security, but what he calls "Security Theater".
