It was a good day. My sister was okay with everything. My mother was a worried hoverer. Both my sister and I agree that we have to let my father do some things for himself otherwise he will never gain back the strength in his arms and legs. As of 3PM he was STILL in surgery, expected to be out around 5:30. still haven't heard... Mom was not home when I called. I can only assume she is at the hospital. Dad had a good night, nothing terrible happened. He went into surgery at 9am this morning. This is a good thing, it means they were able to get the swelling in the neck down enough to be able to tube him for surgery. This one is for the leg and hip breaks. We still have little information about the spinal cord injury, but thats pretty normal ( Read more... )

My father was in a car accident this morning. He hydroplaned in his truck and hit a tree. They needed to use the jaws of life to extract him. All we know so far is he has two broken legs and a broken pelvis. The hospital sent my mother home as they took him into CT. We don't know about any internal injuries yet, I am heading out there now.

Yesterday was my parents 43rd wedding anniversary, in this day and age, that is quite an accomplishment. (yes they are still married, yes, both are still living.) It was also the 43rd anniversary of hurricane Donna hitting the east coast of the northeastern US. It was a large enough and damaging enough hurricane that the name Donna has been ( Read more... )
