So it turns out that my father, while still in restraints and under heavy sedation, was able to pull out his breathing tube last night. Somehow he worked the thing out of his throat using his tongue.
They will not be putting it back in unless he really needs it. He is holding his own when it comes to doing the work of breathing, but has an oxygen mask on so he is getting enough.
geez, does that tell you what kind of person he is. If he could walk right now He would probably be trying to leave the hospital...
