And here we have a beautiful young woman, almost nineteen, practically bouncing in. She has eyes so blue they just about jump out at you, and long, long hair, inherited from her mother, originally the blackest black imaginable, but now dyed multiple colors you don't actually find in nature ( Read more... )

Well, yeah. She's the youngest. Think they wanted her TOO far from home? Plus she didn't want to leave Oz.

"Paris, France." Her gaze was just a little unnerving, so he looks down, not blushing but clearly embarrassed. "I've not heard of Oz."

Well, now she's looking back at his face. Though, really, The Blue can be unnerving in and of itself. "Good. Because if you had, it would lead to some awkward questions about my mom." She smiles. "I've always wanted to go to France, though. What's it like?"

She looks him up and down, grinning. Because wow, there really are a lot of good-looking guys here.

"Thanks. The black and the long is from my mom. The rest is from some dyes my aunt picked up for me from a shop in New York City."

Tona would assert that he's the top of the top in that category, and only look somewhat annoyed when she laughed at him. He's pleased by the attention nonetheless.

"It's really awesome. I haven't done anything that weird in ages, just black. My mom and dad are both brown."

She probably wouldn't laugh, just look amused. She's good at that "wryly amused" thing. Another thing she inherited from her mother.

"I like it a lot. First time I did it, though, my mom flipped. She refused to look at me for a whole day, before my dad got to her." She picks up some of her hair and examines the ends. "People think the black is unnatural often. Because it's so thick, and dark. But it's not." She smiles at him again. "I think you'd look good with black hair. You should try streaking it... with blue, or something."

"Hi! The last one of what? Wait, let me guess. The last -- girl with bright blue eyes and really pretty hair? Though that probably wouldn't be true, because knowing this place, there could be many more girls like that arriving sooner or later -- not that your hair isn't awesome, because it is. Anyway, um, I'm Tristan I-should-tattoo-my-middle-names-on-the-back-of-my-hand Pendergast, and it's nice to meet you."

She blinks, not quite sure how to respond to that, then laughs. "It's very nice to meet you. I'm Lena Thropp-Cohen. And I meant the last of my family, but you can take it how you wish. I've never seen anyone with hair quite like mine. Let me know if you find someone. And your parents have really weird taste in middle names."

That's the usual reaction to Tristan, definitely, but he'll continue brightly and unperturbed. "I meant girls with blue eyes and pretty hair in general, actually, because while there are a lot of those and probably more to come, your hair is definitely one-of-a-kind, and how did you get it like that anyway? And -- that wasn't actually my middle name, if it wasn't obvious." He looks slightly sheepish. "I actually have two middle names, but I keep forgetting both of them, so I say something random instead."

That's good, because she definitely didn't mean anything bad by laughing. "Oh, there are plenty of us, I'm sure. Which might be part of why I dyed it like I did. I did it slowly... streak by streak. It started out with just a few green ones, mostly to annoy my mother." She looks at him curiously. "How can you forget your own middle name?"
