A couple years ago, a just-published book called The End of Faith got a lot of attention. As the title implies, it is an somewhat flamboyant attack on religion in general. An unpromising concept, but the book is much better than I expected. The author, Sam Harris, is surprisingly rigorous and mature, though a few lazy fallacies1 early on overshadow ( Read more... )

So have you heard about this author called Plato? He's really big right now. I just got an e-mail from Amazon informing me that his latest book, Laws, is available for purchase already! I want to read it, but I can't decide whether I should buy it now or wait a millennium of so for it to come out in paperback.

I've been working on a lot of things lately. But this isn't one of them. This is something I started yesterday while I was in Mr. Donut with some time to kill, and finished just now.
