Wanda decided to play it modest that night. She was busy enough keeping the magic in the place roaring and pumping with energy. By the time her preparations were done, she was feeling tired already, but with two glasses of champagne, she would be ready for anything that come her way.

She stood by the door way, greeting and smiling charmingly at each masked individual that walked through.

Pietro stood on the other side of the door, watching his sister in half amusement and half boredom. He got dressed up like promised, but he was more inclined to run around and bug the snot out of people.

"So when's greeting duty over, huh?"

"Just a few more minutes, brother," Wanda smiled--clearly fake--at him. She nodded at another couple that passed her and there was a jealous flash in her eyes. She looked to Pietro, so different and yet dashing dressed up correctly like the good old days.

"Are you in a hurry?" She called over the heads of rich passerbys.

"When am I not?" he smirked at her, nodding at another doofus in a suit. He was playing it chill and relaxed with her, like he usually did, but he was still forcing it. Things were far from perfect between them, but Pietro just liked to sweep it under the carpet and pretend it never happened.

"Find a date?" he asked her casually.

Selina certainly wasn't in the best of moods, but she knew that not showing up to the ball would be more trouble than it was worth. Still, she wasn't really in the mood for too much attention, particularly from her... date. So along with the very non-catlike mask she'd chosen, a wig hid her own black locks, sleek blond waves tumbling over her shoulders.

Clad in a lowcut black silk dress, Selina moved along the fringes of the gathering, eyes drifting automatically to the jewels worn by the attendees. Old habits and all.

Alison had caught eye of Selina and had decided to approach. Alison pretty much loved the dress Selina was wearing, and felt need to inform her of that.

So she walked up to her, little sparkles of light swirling around her body as she gave a greeting. She didn't recognize Selina, due to the wig, the mask and them only meeting the once, but Ali never had a problem with meeting new people. Strangers always ended up being friends.

"Hi there." She finally said. "I just wanted to say that I really like your dress."

Selina, on the other hand, recognized Alison right away. However, it was the little light show that caught her attention first. Something to do with her power.

She offered the other woman a smile. "Thanks. Badgley Mischka."

"Beautiful. I'm Alison Blaire." She replied, smiling right back. "Don't mind the light; it's from the music."

If there was anything that Raven was beginning to feel strongly about, it was the need for her team to get out and have more fun. The mood in the tower had been less than stellar lately, and that was putting it lightly - so when this came up? It wasn't as if she needed to suggest it anyway... but she easily went along, formalwear and all.

As she entered with the rest of the titan posse, her eyes began to scan the area. ... it was beautiful, rustic even. Perhaps she could have a decent night after all, even if it would be spent against one of the walls, watching the others...

Tim had only come back to the Tower last night, and was keeping the apartment in case of... further difficulties, but he hadn't exactly been difficult to convince to attend the ball with the others. He had his own reasons for being here, mainly to keep an eye on Bruce being... well, Bruce Wayne, a facade that was always interesting to see in action, even if it tended to fill him with an underlying sense of unease on a subconscious level, just from the completeness of it, and the way it sat innocuously over the true man beneath. Not that Bruce wasn't Bruce, rather than Batman, but there was an important, if not obvious, distinction between the real Bruce and the Bruce Wayne who was let out into the public eye.

It wasn't just about observing that, of course, but about keeping an eye on... well, whoever else was here, assuming they were involved in the auction and had enough money and influence here to be so. And it was always good to keep track of social groups and movements ( ... )

It was no secret that Raven got easily overwhelmed in large crowds, even after years of practice, meditation, and focus on blocking out unneeded emotions of others. There was only so much she could avoid picking up at any one time - and with what looked like a room full of strangers, she stuck close to the family she knew was here with her.

Tim got the first bit of her attention as she sidled up to him, careful not to trip on the skirts of her dress - she was used to more form-fitting attire, rather than something like this. It was unique, to say the least.
She had missed his presence in the tower, regardless of how short his absence really was. There was something about his spirit and drive that always seemed to perk her up if things got bad, and oh had they gotten bad.

With as sweet of a smile as she could manage, she finally made an attempt to talk to him. "Hey..."

At Raven's approach, Tim's entire stance more or less relaxed - just a fraction, but enough. His expression softened into something approaching a smile, as well, with mildly sheepish tones. He still wasn't exactly happy about certain things, but... he'd spent long enough away from the Tower to miss being around everyone, including Raven, and to calm down a little.

"Hey. Nice dress." Lame, but honest.

John actually is in attendance, but only because of his mysterious date. And even though he's dressed in a two-thousand dollar tuxedo, he looks a little awkward and unsure.

At least he's comfortable in a pair of really grungy military boots.

He's not leaving his date's side for long, but sometimes he can't help but gravitate to the chocolate fountain. Excess, maybe, but he's still a growing boy, and that pancake-batter covered deep fried french toast isn't keeping him.

[ooc: timezoned Mici is timezoned! Tussah and I will both tag back tomorrow, GLaDOS is mysteriously anonymous unless Tussah gives the okay to recognize her, I think~]

GLaDOS, unfortunately, is having a difficult time walking. Beyond the fact that the front of her short white dress jangles needlessly, the shoes that the saleswoman convinced her to purchase are unlike any she's walked in before. Because of this, she's forced to hang onto John's arm heavily -- wobbling occasionally as the both of them drift towards the coveted chocolate fountain.

With her free hand, she adjusts her mask and scans the room silently. She is looking for Edward Nygma, and -- secondarily -- Tony Stark.

Eventually, she leans towards John and whispers to him in her strangely singsong voice: "THESE SHOES ARE PROBLEMATIC."

ooc; Very few people know what GLaDOS looks like and has only utilized video or her human voice under encryptions. If she has not done this with your character before, you will not be able to recognize her beyond "John's date Gwen".

He watches her teeter and tries not to laugh when he says, "Yeah, I can tell." It's odd because as much as she's like Cameron, sometimes she's not at all, like now. Cameron, of course, can navigate anything physical with an unusual amount of grace, even for metal.

He puts one arm around her waist. He doesn't generally touch people, but GLaDOS is a different case. As much as he can trust someone outside his family, he trusts her. So supporting her isn't too much of a problem. "I can't give much advice," he tells her in a low voice, but now he has an arm around her waist to give her additional balance.

"Do you want to sit? I can go find Nygma for you."

sob what is my tense. out_of_beta September 30 2009, 12:34:57 UTC
Unlike John, GLaDOS has no problems with being touched. In fact, she welcomes it; tactile sensory perception is still something of a novelty to her (along with taste), so any such stimulus of that manner is happily received and encouraged. With John's arm around her waist it's somewhat easier to navigate, but not necessarily subtle. GLaDOS shakes her head; her dress makes a shimmery noise as she does so -- glitter spangling and strands of beads clinking audibly against one another.

"NO EDWARD NYGMA IS A SMART MAN. HE GATHERS AND COLLATES INFORMATION LIKE ME. IT WOULD BE UNADVISABLE TO ESTABLISH ANY FORM OF CONTACT. HE WOULD KNOW IF YOU WERE WATCHING." Her mouth turns downwards into a tiny (almost precious) scowl before she looks down at her feet.

"THIS IS SUBOPTIMAL."

In appreciation for her courtesy, Warren accepted Wanda's invitation despite their previous...issues. The fundraiser had been such a success that he couldn't not show up.

Tonight he was wearing a navy blue Italian tux and a small, simple matching eye mask. His mood was good, and he was feeling up for dancing and socializing.

Alison had walked in along with him wearing a blue dress with a butterfly mask. Her blonde hair was curled and nicely done against the sides of her face.

She didn't really want to be here, but she still came.

"So." She trailed off. "This looks nice."

He turned to glance down at her with a small smile, placing his hand against the small of her back as he led them inside. "She may be semi-evil, but I have to give her props; they definitely have the place done up nicely."

However, Alison's nervousness did not go unnoticed. Warren knew she had her reasons, but he really was hoping she'd eventually open up and have a good time. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah." She nodded slowly as she glanced around. Her eyes went to a few certain people, but she eventually looked back at Warren. She placed her hand on his for a moment, and smiled just a little. "I'll be fine."

She paused.

"And don't worry. Wanda and I have a truce."
