Is there any indication in canon of Rabastan's mental capability? I have a notion, based on the fact that Headmasters' portraits don't show up until after the Headmaster has died, that portraits don't come alive until after their subject has died. Is this canon? I'm re-reading the series and there's been mention three times just in the first book that Dumbledore discovered the 12 uses of dragon's blood, but so far, nothing on what those uses might actually be. Is there anything in canon that explains why Ron's patronus is a Jack Russell Terrier? It seems to me (and I may have this wrong) that a person's patronus shape has more to do with an animal that is significant to them than an animal that reflects that person's personality. This might sound odd, but is there any canon evidence that says a human could not turn into a water-bound creature during an animagus transformation? Specifically, is there any evidence that someone could not be as their animagus form a goldfish or a shark? Maybe because these animals do not breathe oxygen in the same way that land animals do?
